Clark Fork River Fishing Report - 4/12

The Clark Fork is dropping just like all the other area waters.  The flow above Missoula is sitting at 4000cfs, which is a big improvement from last week.  The fishing has been getting significantly better with the dropping flows, for instance the reports from yesterday were excellent.  The dry fly fishing has been heating up but you can bet on tandem nymph rigs and streamers to work best until you see some top water action.  For Top water patterns use Parachute adams, rogue skwalas, carnage skwalas, Gould’s half downs, GT emergers, Grey cripples, Parachute Pheasant tails, and purple hazes.  For underneath toss some egg patterns, San Juan worms, Olive double beaded stones, Pat’s rubber legs, Micro stones, Hares ears, and prince nymphs.  Streamers on the upper section above town have been very productive with sparkle minnows, sculpzillas, standard buggers, and yellow yummies.
