Clark Fork River Fishing Report – 4/5

Clark Fork River Fishing Report - 4/5

Clark Fork River Fishing Report - 4/5REPORTS:

Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

This week’s winner of the two dozen free flies, just for having a Kingfisher sticker in his window, is a….. (drum roll)

Blue Ford Bronco: with the last two digits of the license plate being… 58

Drive your rig down to the shop and pick up your bugs!  Thanks for being a Kingfisher customer.

The Clark Fork is still trying to clear up and the flows are relatively stable. With today’s weather you might want to bring a rain jacket if you’re heading this direction.  The subsurface action is going to be your best chance.  With Prince nymphs, micro stones, Pat’s rubber legs, egg patterns, San Juan worms and copper johns all working well underneath.  Fishing your nymphs in tandem under an indicator will probably work best.  You could still have some bugs pop if the weather will cooperate (not likely), if this happens either a low riding skwala pattern or a small parachute adams will work for the bugs on the menu.  If you’re looking to toss some streamers today, use a dark bodied wool head sculpin, dark wooly buggers or a two tone double bunny.  These colors seam to work best in cloudy conditions.

HATCHES: midges, capnias

FLIES: Small prince nymphs, bacon and egg combos (San Juans in tandem with an egg patter), Griffith’s gnats and zebra midges on sunny days, slow moving or jigged rabbit streamers in front of sighted pike.
