Clark Fork River Fishing Report – 5/17

Rock Creek Fishing Report - 4/1

The Clark Fork up high is spiking pretty hard from the rain and warmer nights.  If you look at the graph it’s pretty much a vertical line at Galen.  That water is going to move down the main stem soon and the the middle sections are already rising.  There’s more rain forecast so bring a jacket, some drake patterns, BWO patterns, streamers, and a dry dropper/dropper rig.  Like I said, it’s rising, but the sections from Missoula up to Gold Creek are going to be your most inviting with these conditions.  For a dry/dropper an orange or purple chubbie with a prince nymph, batman nymph, or a hares ear should work well.  For streamers, little zonkers, sculpzillas, and standard buggers in brown or black have been the ticket.  The flows are certainly being funky, but it shouldn’t be too long before this push of rain moves out of the system.

HATCHES: March Browns, Drakes, a few Skwalas, caddis
