Clark Fork River Fishing Report – 5/2

L-DSCN0009

The Clark Fork certainly saw a little bump from the warm weather earlier this week but the cooler evenings should stifle the flows.  With the conditions as they are, it’s much more of a floating game right now.  If you are going to be wading, you’re better off going to the upper sections or finding some back or side channels where the water level is a little more manageable.  Fishing streamers and tandem nymph rigs will be your best bet with Pheasant tails, Egg patterns, San Juan worms, Double beaded stones, Pat’s rubber legs, Red fox squirrels, and hares ear nymphs. For streamers use flash fries, sparkle minnows, yellow yummies, sculpzillas, and mouthwashes. You may still see some March browns, drakes, and skwalas popping on top, so be prepared with some parachute adams, Gould’s half downs, purple hazes, and olive chubbies.
