The upper and lower stretches of the Clark Fork are on a steady decline, but it’s not quite in top shape. The Blackfoot is still pumping dirty water, so everything below Bonner is seeing clarity issues for the time being. The fish are hungry though, so get after it with streamers and double nymph rigs. For streamers use a JJ’s special, olive or tan super buggers, Sculpzillas, standard buggers or an articulated pattern. The nymphs you want are pheasant tails, black bodied stone flies, pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms and little black micro stones. Good dry fly action isn’t far off, so hang tight.
