Clark Fork River Fishing Report – 6/26

Dry Fly Fishing - Missoula Montana

L-DSC_0745

After the bump of water that we got from the warmer weather we had, the Clark Fork is Starting to slowly drop again.  The flow just above town is sitting at 7000 cfs with poor but improving clarity.  Most of the tributaries are running clear, so if you can fish downstream of any of those, you’ll have a nice seam of clear water to nymph and streamer fish.  You may seam some golden stones and salmon flies popping.  If you see those, use a big yellow or orange chubby Chernobyl, golden rogues, salmon rogues or Gould’s half downs.  otherwise for nymphs, use Pat’s rubber legs, micro stones, prince nymphs, double beaded stones, San Juan worms, caddis pupae, Pheasant tails and batman nymphs.  For streamers, use big black and olive patterns fished tight to the banks.

Weekend Fishing Tunes: Weezer, Pinkerton

They love soccer, and they love to rock.

HATCHES: salmonflies, golden stones, green drakes

FLIES: Prince nymphs, bacon and egg combos (San Juan in tandem with an egg pattern), salmonflies/nymphs, streamers.
