Clark Fork River Fishing Report – 8/22

Blackfoot River Fishing Report - 4/12

With the cooler nights and days and September quickly approaching, the fishing restrictions have been lifted.  The entire Clark Fork river has been re-opened including Flint Creek.  The Fishing has been pretty good in the mornings with tricos, PMDs, and Baetis coming off.  When you start to see these bugs tail off around 10 – 11 am, you’ll want to switch to a hopper/dropper rig or a general attractor to hunt through the mid day while things slow down.  With the smoke and random cloud cover, we have been seeing some sporadic mayfly hatches when the conditions are right.  The evenings have been excellent with the waters reopening too.  Expect lots of caddis and PEDs till the sun goes down.  The rain last night didn’t effect the flows at all, so expect some pretty decent conditions today.
