Clark Fork River Report – 3/31

REPORTS:
The Clark Fork has finally become a serious option.  LOTS more bugs out and about in the warmer weather have the fish hunting much more actively.  The streamer fishing in the mornings ,(and on cloudy afternoons), continues to be pretty good.  Black, brown or olive on any given day – rain or shine.   In the afternoons, especially on the lower river near Superior, the March browns and skwalas have the fish looking hard.  Good numbers of naturals out and about as well now.  On cloudy days, you may or may not have decent baetis activity and pods up and working them.  The baetis have been the least consistent game as of late.  While the hydrograph is pointing up this morning, the overall bump isn’t that great and both the upper and lower river should be viable today.  If you do head up above town, the Clinton to Turah stretch is its typically sketchy, log jammy self.

HATCHES: Skwalas, March browns, caddis, baetis, nemouras.

FLIES: Big button emergers or parachute patterns for the March browns, standard skwala junk with 18″ droppers. Big prince nymphs, Peacock double beads, Griffith’s gnats and zebra midges on sunny days, slow moving crystal buggers or bunny junk in #8s that’re black, olive or rust, double dutch skwala, size 18 adams or purple haze

Other Info: You will NEVER be oversold at The Kingfisher.
