Clarkfork Fishing Report 3/10

DSC_0569

The Clark Fork has A LOT of bank ice. Be very careful. With that said, what little open water you can find on these warmer days is well worth fishing and can be a big indicator of a warm water seep. These springs are the favored lies of big trout look for in these winter conditions. Black streamers will snag the big boys, but dark bodied double beaded stones, San Juan worms, micro stones and Pat’s rubber legs will likely perform underneath. The winter stones are out and the nemouras are going to start popping soon. When they do, the fish will be eagerly looking up for them.

Small dark stimulators, bugmeisters and madam-Xs in sizes 16 and 14 will work for the small stones on top. Our regular fishing reports begin on March 15th.
