Missouri report – 5/6

BR-5-1-S-3Another day of calm and sunny.  Egggggselent!!!  The river is up just a tiny bit (120 cfs) below Holter this morning, and the fishing should be very good.  Lots of blue wings and lots of March browns out and about tempting the fatties lately.  Button emergers, cripples and CDC stuff have been the best on the March browns.  All we’ve had to use on the baetis are Kingfisher limestone cripples.  Good casts get eaten often enough so switching is unnecessary.  The evening caddis should be a good bet too, as the warmer temperatures set in for real.  Subsurface, the streamer action is waning a bit.  In the mean time, if you’re not opposed to watching indicators, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel over here right now.  Typical tailwater stuff.  A little bit of natural color with a little bit of flash is the best short of fishing solid red or pink.  The beerhead baetis, zebras, gray scuds, lighting bugs and RS2s.  That’s the shortlist of a LONG list of very effective patterns over here these days.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES: Griffith’s gnats 16-20, zebras, baetis parachutes, March brown button emergers and Lawson/Quigly cripples.  Skwala/dropper rigs lower on the river, lightening bugs, RS2, p-tails, scuds, and streamers in muted colors.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: More and more rainbows returning every day!
