Missouri Report – 6/5

DSC_0881 Good fishing on the Mo, still . . .!  What can we say, it has been a consistent monkey this year.  Lots of fish rising and lots of fish feeding just subsurface making a dry/dropper rig the way to go.  Droppers may have to be a bit deeper today in the bright conditions and you may even have to go down a tippet size on pods of ultra finicky feeders.  Either that you can bombard the pod with a big wooley, rabbity slice of depth charge incentive and see what happens!  Sometimes this tactic is surprisingly effective.  Red San Juans under indicators in the back channels have been the devil.  Prospecting with a #16 para adams with an 18 or 20 beerhead emerger has been our bread and butter topwater rig.  Swinging peacock bodied soft hackles in a 14 or 16 though the backwaters then SLOWLY stripping them back has been a sure fire way to spank the unwilling.  Today’s flow below Holter is 3750 cfs.
