Missouri Report – 9/18

DSC_0021We had a pretty epic weekend over here on the nymph rigs.  Silly actually.  If you’re willing to ball and chain it, you’ll catch some fish.  Smaller (18s and 20s) tailwater nymph fare was the key.  They definitely seemed to want stuff with a hint of muted green or gray. the first day we spent above Craig and the 2nd was down on stretches below.  We were wading and showing the rigs to the fatties repetitively which seemed to make a difference.  Tricos were still a factor in the mornings, but it was much more hit and miss on top than going underneath them and making them pay.  Midday we got fish to eat sporadically on the surface with smaller hoppers, tiny elk hairs and sparkle duns.  Our best bug under was Kyle’s beerhead emerger.  Today’s flow below holter is 2750
