Missouri Report – 8/9

DSCN5049The flow below Holter this morning is 3020 with a peak water temp yesterday of 64.5.  Tricos, caddis and some PMDs are the main fare over here these days although hoppers are motivating fish for us too.  The crowds have peeled off a bit due to the heat wave and the excessive algae bloom, but there is still fishing to be had. Fishing subsurface with anything is tough these days due to stationary and drifting algae but find a “clear run” and you’ll be golden (except for the drifting crap). Finding sippers along the shallower banks is about the best way to stay clear of the muck, and there are good numbers of fish looking up early and late.  The hoppers have been our best midday offerings until the evening caddis get going.  Afternoons have not been gangbuster by any means.  Water temps peaked out yesterday at a Blackfoot like 66 degrees.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES: Elk hairs, para and comparadun PMDS, standard para Adams in a 14-18, hoppers in a 10 or 12, brightly colored and sparsely tied streamers, soft hackles, the traditional bevvy of tailwater nymphs including zebras, rs2s, beerheads, lighting bugs, scuds . . .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The big goal on the Mo right now is staying algae free.  Hard to to with nearly all offerings at this point.
