Missouri River Report: 4/28

BS-S-5

REPORT: It’s going to freakin’ HOWL over here today.  This river can give up seriously disruptive wind and today looks to be one of those days.  If you can manage a drift with about ANYTHING subsurface that doesn’t get blown in whitecap fashion back upstream, you’ll hook up.  Just a matter of how badly you need to get bent.  Zebras have been a no brainer for us recently, but you can nearly ALWAYS count on pink, red or gray stuff working too.  Kyle’s beerhead baetis is one of our all time favorites.  The flow below Holter this morning is 4160 with a water temp of 43. The Smith near Eagle Creek is running 153 cfs.

FLIES: Griffith’s gnats 16-20, Midge patterns in the afternoon, Skwala/dropper rigs lower on the river, zebras, zebras, zebras, lightening bugs, RS2, p-tails, scuds, and streamers of the natural sort.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Look for the next warm up to absolutely bust things loose over here – in a good way!
