Missouri River Fishing Report – 5/23

L-DAVE-MO-4REPORTS: Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

The Missouri is holding relatively consistent flows in the upper 8000’s. This is going to be the best river fishing option without a doubt. That said, you won’t be alone if you head this direction. The bugs hatching right now are March browns, caddis and baetis. Parachute adams in various sizes along with other march brown patterns have been working well along with caddis in the evening. Subsurface patterns are small red and pink scuds, RS2′s, Ray-Charles, pheasant tails, lightning bugs, caddis pupae and streamers. Keep an eye on that indicator and the relative water depth. Getting your bugs in the strike zone is key this time and any time of the year.

If you own and iPad 1 or 2, we have 6 MFC original iPad covers to give away. The first people through the door get’em!!! If you come in with a kingfisher tattoo on your forehead you can have two!!!HATCHES: midges

FLIES: Griffith’s gnats 16-20, lighting bugs, RS2, p-tails, scuds, Pink Amex, Pink Scuds, Glow BugsADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Probably one of the best river options in the state right now. Tailwater happiness!
