Missouri River Fishing Report – 5/31

Missouri River Fishing Report - 4/4Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

Flows below Holter have increased by 1000cfs per day over the last few days.  The fishing has been steady, but with the levels being what they are, a boat is almost necessary. Nymphing has been the most productive approach, but we’ve started seeing a lot more caddis recently, and the dry fly action is picking up. The bugs hatching right now are March browns, caddis and baetis. Parachute adams in various sizes along with other march brown patterns have been working well along with caddis in the evening. Subsurface patterns are small red and pink scuds, RS2′s, Ray-Charles, pheasant tails, lightning bugs, caddis pupae and streamers.
