Missouri River Fishing Report – 5/8

L-19
REPORTS: Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!

The Missouri got another little bump of water but nothing serious.  The flow below Holter is around 8800 cfs and the clarity is good.  Nymphing has still been hooking up the most fish with pheasant tails, small red and pink scuds, sow bugs, RS2′s, Ray-Charles, San Juan worms and streamers.  The key to the game right now has been keeping your nymph at the right depth.  With the funky flows it’s important to keep in mind the added depth to get down to the fish.  If you’re streamer fishing, tight line your junk at the banks with short strips and dead drift through the bigger deeper runs using olive or black buggers.  With the lack of fishing in our area be prepared to see others heading this direction as well.

If you own and iPad 1 or 2, we have 6 MFC original iPad covers to give away. The first people through the door get’em!!! If you come in with a kingfisher tattoo on your forehead you can have two!!!HATCHES: midges

FLIES: Griffith’s gnats 16-20, lighting bugs, RS2, p-tails, scuds, Pink Amex, Pink Scuds, Glow BugsADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Probably one of the best river options in the state right now. Tailwater happiness!
