Missouri River Fishing Report – 6/8

L-8

We’ve seen a huge drop in flows on the Missouri below Holter Dam. It went from 11000cfs early in the week to just under 5000cfs now. Variable flows can sometimes mess with the fishing, but we’ve been hearing good reports from the last few days, and wade fishing options are becoming more and more available with the dropping water. Pods of fish eating BWOs and caddis are out there, so bring some floatant. For dry flies, we’re looking at small purple hazes, midge clusters, elk hair caddis, parachute baetis, baetis button emergers and small flying ants. For subsurface, stick with sow bugs, czech nymphs, caddis pupae, scuds, small PTs and lightning bugs.
