Missouri River Fishing Report – 8/19

Guided Float trips on the Missouri with The Kingfisher Fly Shop

Hoot Owl Restrictions have been put in place for the Dearborn, Smith, and Sun rivers.

There is still plenty of green to go around. That means trico fishing in the mornings is your best bet. But with it being mid-August, the hopper fishing has started to turn some tanks in the afternoons. For dry flies, use PMD cripples, standard Adams parachutes, midge clusters, elk hair caddis, parachute baetis, baetis button emergers, yellow sallies, small flying ants, and hoppers. For subsurface, stick with sow bugs, czech nymphs, caddis pupae, scuds, small PTs, lightning bugs and micro marflies. For streamers use black, olive or brown sculpzillas, woolhead sculpins, standard buggers and JJ’s specials.

Weekend Fishing Tunes: Death Cab For Cutie, Plans

With the announcement of Chris Walla’s departure, it seems appropriate to highlight one of Death Cab’s best albums. Find it anywhere that sells music.

HATCHES: Tricos, hoppers, PMDs, yellow sallies

FLIES: RS2s, beerheads, goddard caddis, CDC caddis, assorted yellow sally patterns, micro mayflies, wire worm, Morris Hoppers.
