Rock Creek – 5/2

BR-1-L

REPORT:

Good stuff on the creek again as conditions line up to be nearly ideal through the weekend.  Water temps up here are going through about a 7 degree swing in the course of a day, so there’s going to be a big difference between the fishes’ willingness to come to the surface in the morning versus later in the day.  By early afternoon, though, you should have fish willing to eat a variety of caddis, mayfly and smaller stonefly dries.  The river bottom is FULL of big, fat salmonfly nymphs that are getting ready to hatch, so anything along those likes would be a good bet.  Patterns like big double beaded stones, girdle bugs, Kauffmans, black or brown sili legs etc . . .  Slow moving and SMALL bodied streamers will also be effective as things warm up a bit.  Tomorrow through the weekend should be epic on the creek.  This morning’s flow near Clinton is 489 cfs which is down about 50 cfs from this time yesterday.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

2 VERY good Rock Creek streamers that’re $2.25 a piece at The Kingfisher Every day, Every week.  Might want to compare that to some other shops.  All our double beads are $1.95 ea. every day too . . except on Friday’s when up to 12 of ’em will cost you 1/2 that!
