Rock Creek Report – 6/29

DSCN4172

So you’ve got today and tomorrow left to fish the creek from a boat this year.  Flows are about 1/2 of what they were on this day last year, though, so wading up here is almost a better option.  The fish are being hugely cooperative up here these days eating everything from hoppers to PMDS.  The caddis in the afternoons and evenings has become very predictable in the hot weather although on some evenings, smaller mayfly patterns will still outfish caddis 2-1.  Nymphing is also very good and the fish are moving much greater distances for smaller streamers.  Pretty tough to beat a size 12 attractor (royal stimulator) with a smaller p-tail or copper John dropper about 18″ below it.  You’ll have good shooting on the creek today.
