Rock Creek Fishing Report – 10/10

L-53

Rock Creek has stayed pretty stable through all the rain surprisingly. The Creek is gonna be one of your best options. It’s definitely getting colder up here which is scrunching down the effective dry fly action to about a 2 or 3 hour window midday. Even the nymphing has stalled a bit until the sun’s been up awhile. When you do see fish rising, a size 14 comparadun or Adams/haze should work about as well as anything. By mid afternoon, though, sometimes a smaller hippie stomper is still the best route to coax up skeptical feeders. Standard nymphs in a variety of sizes from huge to minute are all working well too. Lower water levels make wading easier, but necessitate more careful and drag-free casts. The flow this morning near Clinton is 239 cfs.
