Rock Creek Fishing Report – 10/7

L-DSCN1749

70-degree days in October is a novel thing. For the ski-heads, it’s prolonging the anticipation, but for those fearful of the months to come, it’s a welcome surprise. Mahoganies, BWOs, and October caddis have been the go-to bugs up here lately. We’ve heard reports of some bigger brown trout swimming through, so head that way and tie on something ugly. For dry flies, use mahoganies, chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, BWOs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs.
