Rock Creek has dropped back down to its historic flows for this time of year, which is right around 300 cfs.
The clarity is good and the fishing is just starting to heat up. Tandem nymph rigs are still the most productive with streamers right behind. Fish San Juan worms, Peacock double beaded stones, tiny prince nymphs and egg patterns in tandem. If your throwing streamers, work all the obvious water with dark colored patterns. With the flows back down to normal, the fish are going to be back in all their normal holds. So take your time and be thorough when working your way upstream. If you plan on fishing the upper sections keep in mind the road is still in poor condition and you’ll save time driving in from the top.
