Rock Creek Fishing Report - 3/27
Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!!
Water clarity is good up here and water levels are reasonable for good wading although the stakes are much higher if you go swimming in this weather – be careful! We’ve been having decent fishing all the way from Valley of the Moon to Gillies bridge with a small dryfly window that’s consistent from about 2 to 3:30. Before or after that, you’ll definitely do better with nymph rigs which utilize a variety of stonefly and mayfly patterns ranging from larger Bitch Creek type stuff down to size 18 brassies. This really is one of the most effective times for smaller, slower moving streamers too. Stick to the slower water and keep your retrieves slow and smooth.
FLIES: Smaller nymphs, small orange egg pattterns, red San Juans OTHER INFO:
