Rock Creek Fishing Report - 4/12
Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us! This week’s winner of the two dozen free flies, just for having a Kingfisher sticker in his window, is a….. (drum roll)Forest Green Toyota Tundra: with the last two digits of the license plate being… 09Drive your rig down to the shop and pick up your bugs! Thanks for being a Kingfisher customer.

With the flows and temperatures going up and down like a roller coaster, the fishing up here is going to be a little slow.  Expect most of your fishing to be sub-surface with black double beaded stones, pheasant tails, San Juan worms, red copper johns, Pat’s rubber legs and skwala nymphs.  Streamers will work too, but keep your casts tight to the banks and use dark bodied sculpin patterns.  When the flows are higher than normal, look for braids and side channels that have smaller flows, these will be easier to wade and fish.  The upper river is a good idea for wade fishing for that exact reason.

FLIES: Smaller nymphs, small orange egg pattterns, red San Juans OTHER INFO:
