Rock Creek Fishing Report – 4/5

L-16

Ice is off Browns Lake!

Rock Creek is waking up, and the fishing is improving every day.  Just like all the other rivers, Rock creek saw a bump in flow from the warmth we got the last couple of days.  The fishing on the upper sections has been the best but the lower sections are turning some really nice fish too.  Your best fishing today is going to be with tandem nymph rigs and streamers until the dries show up.  For the march browns bring some size 14 parachute adams, GT emergers, and march brown extended bodies for fishing on top. For the skwalas use Gould’s half downs, Flush floaters, peacock Barr flies, and carnage skwalas.  using a dry/strap-hanger (dropper) will be worth the effort till things really start rockin.  using a pheasant tail, black or olive double beaded stone, San Juan, egg patterns, fast water princes and red copper john in tandem will work best underneath.  for streamers, smaller sized black or olive buggers or a smaller sculpin pattern will hook some toads.  The flow on Rock Creek today is sitting right at 390 cfs.
