Rock Creek Fishing Report – 5/15

L-DSCN1955

Rock Creek is still holding strong with a flow of a little over 1150cfs and decent clarity.  The Salmon Flies have just started popping and the fish are chowing them in good numbers.  This has come a little earlier than usual but the conditions are spectacular for’em.  Big rogue Salmon flies, sofa pillows, orange chubbies, and salmon fly flush floaters should all work.  The weather forecast for the coming week is supposed to stay cool and mellow with a little rain, which should keep the flows from doing anything crazy.  If you’re not seeing any fish chow the big bugs yet, go subsurface with pheasant tails, hares ears, double beaded stones, Pat’s rubber legs, bitch creeks, big black Kaufman stones, micro stones, prince nymphs, and San Juan worms until things warm up on top.  This is the awesome spring fishing everyone hopes for, so get it while you can!
