Rock Creek Fishing Report – 6/10

Guided Float trips on the Missouri with The Kingfisher Fly Shop

With High water being over and Rock Creek’s flows dropping quick, if you’re looking to float you better make it soon, before it gets too boney.  The Salmon flies have pretty much run their course, but all the other summer bugs have shown up in spades.  PMDs, yellow sallies, Golden stones, Baetis, and caddis have all made a stellar appearance and the fishing has been great.  So if you’re heading up here, you’re definitely going to want to be prepared with a generous selection of top water bugs.  If you run into a slow period during the mid day, tandem nymph rigs or a dry dropper will be good choice for a searching rig. For top water flies use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes and para wulffs.  For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs.  Streamers have been working well too with big dark bodied junk working best.
