Rock Creek Fishing Report – 6/3

L-4Beginning in April, once a week we will post a brief description of a rig we saw during the previous week that had one of our Kingfisher stickers on the window. When you recognize it as being your car described in our hatch report, stop into the shop and pick out 2 dozen nymphs or dries on us!Rock Creek is continuing to drop slowly and the clarity is coming into shape as well.  The Salmon Flies are just starting to hatch on the lower end, but with the flows sitting around 2,400 cfs you’ll still half to remain vigilant for obstructions and water hazards.  If you’re heading up here keep an eye out for side and back channels for more manageable water.  The upper section is going to be a way better bet than the bottom and is seeing some nice BWO hatches.  At the bottom throw some Prince nymphs, Double-bead Stones, Pat’s Rubber Legs, etc. and keep them deep and tight to the banks.  I would also have some salmon dries and BWO’s at the ready.  If you start to see fish chowwing them, it’s game on.
