Rock Creek Fishing Report – 6/30

Blackfoot River Fishing Report - 4/12

Guided Float trips on the Missouri with The Kingfisher Fly Shop

the general dry fly fishing has been more than decent. Hopper/dropper setup during the afternoon is the ticket. There are caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stones, PMDs, and yellow sallies available during the rest of the day. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs. Darker streamers have also been working.

Given the historically hot conditions, we’ve started voluntarily doing hoot owl fishing.  Since the water temperatures on the rivers have been in the mid 70’s by mid afternoon, the survivability of the fish drops dramatically from the low oxygenated water.  It’s in the best interest of the resource to stop around 2pm and give those little fishes a break.  It’s just a matter of time before FWP follows suit.  Thanks for your cooperation.
