A peek at the flow graph might make it seem as though Rock Creek bumped huge from the recent brief rain, but in reality, it bumped less than 100cfs, so it’s not a big deal. Overall, Rock Creek has been fishing very well. There are caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stones, PMDs, and yellow sallies available during the rest of the day. Dropping a nymph off your dry is still a good option, too. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs. Darker streamers have also been working.
