Rock Creek Fishing Report – 8/14

L-GOPR0424

We’re still getting some great fishing up here through the mid-day, but the best windows are definitely mornings and evenings.  With the mid-day heat, you might half to go sub surface to get after the bigger fish, but a hopper dropper rig should be your best bet.  We are seeing spruce moths (still), caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stones, PMDs, and yellow sallies available during the rest of the day. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs.

Weekend Fishing Tunes: Love of Everything, Superior Mold and Die

Bobby Burg’s one-man band was just here at the VFW last Wendesday. He put on a great show with his experimental, multi-layered indie/pop.
