Even with the increased pressure from out-of-towners during the summer, you always know what to expect with Rock Creek, and this time of year, that means plenty of dry action. Get out in the mornings and evenings, or fish nymph rigs during the heat of the day. We are seeing spruce moths (still), caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stones, PMDs, and yellow sallies available during the rest of the day. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs.
