Rock Creek Fishing Report – 9/26

l-105

The fishing up Rock Creek is really starting to turn the corner into fall mode.  With the appearance of the October caddis, mahoganies, and hecubas, the fish have certainly been looking up for top water bugs.  With the cooler nights, the bigger trout have definitely started to get aggressive towards streamers, so head that way and tie on something ugly. For dry flies, use mahoganies, chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, PMDs, BWOs, bullet head stones, hippie stompers, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and corn fed caddis. For sub surface patterns use big green machines, pheasant tails, Pat’s rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, skipper stones and batman nymphs.

HATCHES: hoppers, mahoganies, BWOs, caddis, hecubas

FLIES: Prince nymphs, rogue stone, parachute adams, elk hair caddis, hoppers, stoneflies/nymphs, streamers.
