Rock Creek Hatch Report – 4/16

DSCN0691REPORTS:The Creek has really been giving the other rivers a run for their money this spring. While always a good bet early in the year, it’s not generally leading the way for consistent snow squall dryfly fishing. It has been recently. VERY good fishing up here along the entire length of the creek using streamers, nymphs and dries in the afternoons. The March brown fishing has been the best in recent memory with EAGER fish looking to the surface starting around noon. Short retrieved streamers on the twitch have been taking some very nice fish as well as have tandem mayfly nymphs along the bottom. For ease of access, room to breathe, amazing scenery and very good fishing, the creek is tough to beat right now.
FLIES:A variety of caddis patterns in about a #12, comparaduns and cripples in 14s, double beads, Brooks stones and big princes right off the bottom.
OTHER INFO: Yes, we have the Sage Elite flyrod in stock
