Rock Creek Report: 4/20

BS-S-4REPORT:

Oddly enough, Rock Creek continues to be some of the best streamer fishing in the area these days.  NOT your typical spring fishing in Missoula scenario.  Top to bottom, the creek fish seem to be lining up to eat the big junk.  We like that in a fish!  If dries or nymphs are more your style, you won’t be disappointed on those fronts either.  Everything from tiny mayfly nymphs like #18 brassies and copper Johns all the way up to gigantic Kauffman stones are fooling slippery simpletons.  The dries are particularly effective after about noon and it’s been pretty selectively, March brown patterns although caddis and thinner bodied stonefly dries are working too.  Go see for yourself.  Remember, it’s going to be windy, if you head up the creek, wearthefoxhat.

FLIES: A variety of caddis patterns in about a #12, comparaduns and cripples in 14s, March brown emergers, double beads, Brooke’s stones and big princes right off the bottom.  Buggers both brown and black.

OTHER INFO: Yes, we have the Sage Elite flyrod in stock
