Rock Creek report – 5/5

REPORT:

Today is almost certainly the beginning of the end.  While the creek is only up about 20 cfs in the past 24 hours, you can bet that the 70 degee days and near 40 degree nights will start to bring down the snowpack.   In yesterday’s nasty windy and rainy weather, nymphs were the key.  Anything with a green body like the bug pictured above seemed to do well.  Olive p-tails, green copper Johns . . . green was key.  More wind today, but look for March browns to be a factor if it doesn’t HOWL out there.   Subsurface it’ll be double beaded stones, attractor stuff like red San Jauns and a variety of mayfly nymphs like size 14 hare’s ears, princes, copper John’s etc.  Get it while you can, here comes high water!

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

Girdle bugs (Rock Creek and Smith River KILLERS)  are $1.95 every day – every week except on Fridays when you can get up to 12 of ’em for 1/2 that!DSCN1743

FLIES: A variety of caddis patterns in about a #12, comparaduns and cripples in 14s, March brown emergers, double beads, Brooke’s stones and big princes right off the bottom. Buggers both brown and black.
