Rock Creek Report – 8/20

DSC_1220REPORT:

The flow near Clinton this morning is 185 with a high water temp yesterday of 68.  This compares to a flow of 254 a year ago with a high of 63.  By midday, it will likely be a smokey affair on the creek as the School House fire wakes back up.  You may want to either head to the Mo or the lower Clark Fork for half a day of better breatheability!  If you do hit the creek, it’s going to be terrestrials like smaller hoppers, ants and spruce moths.  They’re still digging the red attractor stuff up here so a red PMX in smaller sizes is a good bet.  Royal stimulators with p-tail droppers have been very consistent lately.  P.S. The trailheads at Blue Mountain and McClay Flats are closed at this point.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES: PMDs, caddis, hoppers, ants and spruce moths

OTHER INFO: The Kingfisher is Missoula’s oldest flyshop under continual and local ownership with, get this, NO branch stores in California!
