Rock Creek Report – 9/18

DSC_0224It’s kind of a catch as catch can affair up here right now with the seasonal shift in full swing.  Not a ton of aquatic insect adults around at this point although there are still good numbers of terrestrials like ants, bees, hoppers and even some spruce moths.  The fish have still been willing to take smaller mayfly dries on occasion and a size 14 or 16 royal Wulff is working about as well as anything right now.  We’re also having luck with para Adams, purple haze and slightly larger comparaduns.  The royal stimis are still producing for us too and they work very well for supporting droppers.  While you’ll tag more whities with the droppers and tandem nymph rigs deep, you’ll get enough trout to keep in interesting as well.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES:  caddis, hoppers, ants and spruce moths, bees

OTHER INFO: The Kingfisher is Missoula’s oldest flyshop under continual ownership.
