Rock Creek Report – 9/3

REPORT:

DSC_0745The creek continues to fish well with a high water temp yesterday of only 63 degrees.  Not bad considering the flow near Clinton is 138 cfs.  You can wade fish criss-crossing this river pretty much anywhere you want.  Red continues to be the color de jour.  Elongated patterns still seem to be out fishing mayfly type stuff 5 to 1 too.  On Saturday and Sunday, hands down our best bug was a royal stimulator.  The droppers bought us a bunch more fish as well, but most of those where uncle whitie.   Didn’t matter what the dropper was either.  You’ll see LOTS of nymph flashing going on subsurface, but the best fish for us came to the surface pretty much from morning until evening.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES: PMDs, caddis, hoppers, ants and spruce moths

OTHER INFO: The Kingfisher is Missoula’s oldest flyshop under continual and local ownership with, get this, NO branch stores in California!
