Rock Creek Report – 9/30

*** Up, up and awaaaaay as of later this morning . . . risiing big time!***  The creek has been pretty good recently although you may have your work cut out for you today in the gale force winds they’re calling for.  The rest of the week looks nearly ideal, but today . . . not so much!  The most consistent dryfly action for us lately, has been on the upper river.  Going around the long way through Pburg makes for a nice drive through good scenery and will keep your fillings and motor mounts in place by allowing you to avoid the length of RC road.  The streamer fishing up here has been very good recently, so if that’s your deal, you in luck.  Smaller yellow or chartreuse patterns like Clousers or smaller buggers have been doing well.  If you’re going the nymph route, better plan on mixing it up until you find what’s working on any given day, it’s been inconsistent to say the least.  We’ve been having good luck on overcast days with Quiggly or Lawson cripples in gray or brown.  Button emergers in a 14 have been a good bug as well.  On actively rising fish, a good drag-free cast with nearly any #14 mayfly will usually get the look.  *The Kingfisher U of M class rods are now available while supplies last.  Lightly used high end Sage rods with the full lifetime warranty for 30% off*
