Rock Creek Report – 9/6

:

DSC_0569The creek continues to fish well with a high water temp yesterday of only 62 degrees with a flow near Clinton of 175 cfs. – less than 1/2 of the Blackfoot.  Makes for easy wading and considerably less chance of being swept downstream when you slip on the greased bowling balls that comprise the Rock Creek river bottom! With the recent cloud cover, standard mayfly stuff seems to have come back in favor with para Adams, purple hazes and comparaduns working much better than they were even a week ago. The royal stimi / dropper rig is still taking fish for us and we’re starting to get more trout to the dropper as opposed to the whitefish conveyor it was a week ago.  You’ll still end up with lots of fish of questionable parentage, but you’ll see enough spots to make it worthwhile.

1/2 OFF Fridays.  50% Off your 1st dozen nymphs and dries!  Every Friday – Every Week

FLIES: PMDs, caddis, hoppers, ants and spruce moths

OTHER INFO: The Kingfisher is Missoula’s oldest flyshop under continual and local ownership with, get this, NO branch stores in California!
